Generous grant is given a warm welcome
In September 2018 St Asaph Cathedral installed two new heating boilers that are reliable, efficient and fit for purpose to meet the demands made of us as good stewards of this beautiful Grade I listed building that is much loved and widely used.
This work was completed with the aid of a generous grant from the Allchurches Trust Limited owners of Ecclesiastical Insurance Group. The grant was given as part of their ongoing commitment to Cathedrals and Churches that they may be places that are fulfilling their purpose and open for people’s enjoyment.
Keeping the cathedral at an optimum temperature is very important for many reasons. The cathedral needs to be a comfortable and welcoming place when people come to visit. The cathedral is open 365 days of the year for people to enjoy; for prayer and reflection; for its history and architecture and as a place of encounter with God and with other people.

At St Asaph Cathedral we can remotely programme suitable temperatures for various times of the day and on different days of the week. By carefully monitoring the temperature we are able to safeguard the fabric of the building, maintain a stable temperature range to keep the cathedral organ in good working condition and make sure that we are not wasting energy.
And when there are services, concerts and other events the temperature is raised to take account of the fact that people will be sitting for longer periods of time.
The boiler installation was completed by a local commercial heating specialist and the wiring by a local electrician.
We are very grateful to Allchurches Trust Limited for their continued support and assistance ensuring that St Asaph Cathedral is not only a place with a rich history but a place that has hopes and aspirations for the future as well.
