is held at the Cathedral at 6pm every Saturday Evening. It is a quiet, informal and reflective service focusing on the following Sunday readings in the Lectionary with prayer, song, chant and Scripture.. We look at the appointed passages and there is a time to share our thoughts and to prepare for Sunday Worship. The service is called Sacred Space, being a time or ‘ window’ in our busy lives to be still and focus on God’s Word. The service lasts approximately 30 minutes and all are very welcome to come.
Stillness and Prayer
is held in the Cathedral at 6pm every Tuesday evening. We are invited into the Stillness through listening to calming spiritual music and through prayer. Each week a passage of Scripture is read, followed by a short reflection leading into a time of quietness, being in God’s presence. Lasting approximately thirty minutes, Stillness and Prayer is a precious opportunity to spend time in this holy place with our loving Father, away from the busyness of our daily lives.
is held at the Cathedral on the second Wednesday of each month at 9pm. The Service of Compline is the final church service or ‘office’ of the day and marks the ‘completion’ of each day in the monastic tradition. It is sung by a small group from the congregations of the Cathedral and Parish Church, at the end of which all who attend are asked to depart in silence. Compline is also sung during Lent as a weekly devotion. All are very welcome and it helps to be seated by 8.50pm to prepare ourselves in the stillness of the candlelit Presbytery.
